3 Crocheted Pumpkin Stems

Here are three pumpkin stems already crocheted and ready to fit into the top of your knitted or crocheted pumpkin.  If you followed a pumpkin pattern that called for placing a cinnamon stick or small twig into the top of your pumpkin, you can use these stems instead for a more realistic crocheted look.  These were handmade by Janet Andersen, using jute twine and Plymouth Yakima's merino/Yak yarn in the color, "Pine."

To insert these stems, simply bunch up the bottom of the stem until it fits in the hole atop your pumpkin.  Once in the hole, the expansion of the bunched fabric inside the hole should hold the stem in place. 

These stems can be tweaked by hand into a straight or more curved shape.  They tend to hold the shape of however they are adjusted.
