Delightful Yarns

Meet Janet Andersen

I'm so glad you found my website and hope it will be a source of delight, and inspiration for you.

My crochet journey began when I was a teenager teaching a small Sunday School class. One of the church moms invited the class over for a tea party* and crafting lesson one day. There she taught us the basics for making a simple Granny Square.

For years, I stuck with just the double or single crochet I learned that day or a new stitch pattern picked up, in-person, from a friend. I wasn't really aware of written patterns, and when I did come across one, all the abbreviations looked too complicated to decipher. I made lots of scarves and blankets--even selling some at craft fairs briefly--but eventually, I drifted away from crocheting.

Fast forward about 20 years, a husband, and two sons later: I walked back into a yarn store one day, and, wow, had the crochet world changed! Hello, amigurumi! I was blown away by the 3D creations people were making. I bought a Woobles kit and through it learned, for the first time, how to follow a written pattern. I also discovered that YouTube had thousands of crochet tutorials available. This combination opened up a whole new world of crochet for me, and I've been charging ahead ever since.

Once I learned how to read crochet patterns, (and with the help of all those amazing YouTube tutorials) it wasn't a big step to also learn how to put together my own patterns. My head was spinning with new ideas all the time. I'm one who loves to immediately share new, exciting things I when I discover them, so I am so happy to now have the skills to pass along the new things I'm learning and the fun projects I come up with. I hope you find as much delight in them and in these beautiful yarns as I do.

Hello!
* I still enjoy a good tea party.
